Panic buying
|
Last year it was toilet roll, this year it is petrol, with tossers blocking up roads queuing at stations.
Morons love a good old panic buy. Fucking idiots.

The light on my tank came on yesterday so I was forced to get petrol. I only put £20 in as that's all I'll need for next week or so, but took me a fucking hour to do it.
so didn't want to go to a petrol station yesterday
Absolutely redicous

Throughout the pandemic I didn't panic buy one item. Everything was available eventually. I feel sorry for those who really need to get some fuel (I drive as part of my work) but I'll be filling up next week when it's all calmed down. Asda this morning at 7:45 - peace and calm, petrol closed. Asda at 8:30 when I was attempting to leave, fuel available, half a mile queue and no-one giving way. There will be much unhappiness today, I fear.

I topped up yesterday early doors frank. I could see which way it’s headed and I need a full tank for a road trip next week, but once everyone has filled up and can’t get any more petrol in the tank, it’ll go back to normal
I blame the oil companies though. Announcing that filling stations are closing, is clearly going to cause the sorts of panic evident yesterday.
I don’t want to panic buy either but if you need something and everyone else is queuing, whatyagonnado?

Tesco said two of its 500 petrol stations were affected - describing the impact as minimal.
Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons said they were not affected.
BP and Shell have 10's of stations closed. Barely anything.
Just the usual stirring up by the media causing trouble. And oh look, it's the labour conference this weekend...

It’s another example of how hooked a lot of people are by media.
Not that we needed anymore examples after COVID.

If you fancy a laugh go on to the BP jobs page and put in fuel delivery driver and see how many vacancies they have.
I’ll save you the bother - a big fat zero.
Did see diesel yesterday at £1.63 tho.

Definitely media stirring this up.
No shortages but there will be if those who don’t need petrol buy it! Bet half of people in the queue have about 3 quarters in the tank

You ever stop and think that this is all very convenient
Big rolls last year as they take up the most space on shelves and therefore make great “shelves are empty” headlines
Fuel now which will further push the move toward electric
Next up we will see a load of renta mobs protesting climate change which will inconvenience working people and allow governments to bring in green taxation
There are few random acts

If the media hadn't spouted it there wouldn't have been asn issue.

I guess if the oil companies own storage facilities are full and they don't want to/cant step down production rates, then nudging the supply chain along is a pretty cost effective way of doing things.
Feed the media a line and morons will do the rest.

This is the era of 24 hour news and instant social media. You can’t blame the media for doing their job.
There simply aren’t that many people who really needed to fill up yesterday. If you are one of those people who queued up, ask yourself if it was really necessary.
Too many selfish cunts with too much time on their hands.

What I don’t understand is all the people who were queuing at the Tesco yesterday at 11 am. Don’t these people have jobs? And if they don’t have jobs, they could probably do without petrol for a few days. But I suspect that most of them had enough petrol anyway. Why would you want to sit in traffic for an hour if you don’t have to?

Looks to me engineered by BP and Esso to put pressure on Boris about the HGV drivers situation.
There isn't even a shortage of oil and it's every man for himself, which they knew would be the case.

As always it’s a govt cock up, no organisation or forward planning, they were warned and chose to ignore, covid has changed so many people’s working lives, ex drivers are happy delivering food….

You cunts mostly live in the stix where everything is great.
Try living in central London and see that Brexit has decimated all kinds of shit from masses of empty shelves in supermarkets and a shortage of petrol.
Before Brexit we had one of the best supply chains in the world. Now you 'send them back' cunts have caused all this shit.
Madness.

I just drove back from Germany, no queues for fuel.
Got to Calais no queues for fuel.
Got to Dover…..pandemonium.
The media are to blame, totally.

Given the shortages, covering them with petrol and setting fire to them, sadly isn't an option.
